Ah, it's Friday. Normally I look forward to Fridays and the coming break(neck speed of activities) over the weekend. This week, however, what I'm really looking forward to is Sunday! Why? Because my husband is finally back on board with the healthy environment.
It's been a food frenzy since... well, I won't say because it's embarrassing. Just know that December was not a month where I took it easy on my scale (I think I heard it wheezing when I was passing by yesterday.) My husband has gained weight this year too, and he's at the point of either buying bigger pants or knocking off the unhealthy eating. So, he's on board!
What does that mean? It means I finally have a firm commitment from him to remove all the junk (we put it away in the deep freezer in the basement, or the pantry down there - out of sight really does help) and save it for our treat day of the week. The other days are full on fabulously healthy! I got him to even let go of the beer or wine in the evenings. Yes, I know, I've heard all the studies justifying heart health and whatnot, but none of those take into consideration that a man like my husband can have his one beer, but never without chips or something equally bad to go with it. So it's not a beer, it's a beer and about 800 calories of munchies.
I'm restarting my P90X stint on Sunday because I broke myself this week, as I said earlier. My abs are fine now, it was just DOMS, but my back? Yeah, that was/is an injury and Advil is my friend. I think I'll be OK by Sunday, but I'll plan to take it slow. I'm also going to aim for those 10,000 steps a day (which is made harder by the fact that P90X doesn't add a ton to that total, unlike running did! Cross-country skiing didn't either.) Still, I'm going to try to take Lily out for walks and run up and down the stairs here and there throughout the day.
It's a plan! A 12 week plan. I'm looking forward to moving on and not looking at a future where I gain more weight, but instead one where I am losing it.
Cosmo came home yesterday and he's perkier than I thought he would be. He needs to heal, but I think that his leg must have really been hurting for him to actually seem better right after having it amputated!
He's home, and who knows? Maybe he'll last longer than the vet thinks? It could happen.
I've accomplished almost nothing this week in my studio because my husband has the week off. I have too much guilt going and sneaking off to work while he's home. So, on that note, I'm really looking forward to Monday too! Healthy life and art coming my way next week, yes they are!
Lastly, I'm giving away a custom painting! Want to win it? Here's how to enter:
It's time to give away the free 5x7 painting!!!
Who's eligible? ANYONE! You simply have to enter using the link below to earn entries!
There are two ways to earn entries, which you will see. First, like my facebook fan page, the second is to tweet the giveaway (which is optional.) The raffle is open from today until Monday at midnight, and I will announce the winner on Tuesday! Shipping is included if you are in the US or Canada, and if you are outside of those areas there will just be a small shipping fee just to offset the cost.
You will get to choose either a 5x7 Acrylic canvas panel painting, or a watercolor painting. You get to then choose the kind of painting or elements you'd like to see (no portraits), and then I get to run with the idea and you get to own the result!
(f you are already a fan of the page, the raffle will take that into account and give you the entry when you click on it - but you MUST click on it. You are not automatically entered into this contest if you already like the page.)
If you have questions, please ask!
Good luck!

I'm entered to win!! :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought of banishing all the unhealthy stuff to the deep freeze - that is genius!! I always have a little bit of a panic attack when the diet "gurus" say to get rid of all the junk in the house, but stashing it in the freezer? I could do that. :)
I hope Lily isn't too hard on Cosmo. I know that nothing would keep Cali from bothering Delilah. She's a puppy who doesn't know her own strength.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get Jason on board with my journey. Instead we have an entire cabinet full of crap. Ok, not crap, but unhealthy snacks. It makes it difficult sometimes. I have to pretend they are not there. sigh
Anyway, I'm trying again. I think I'm far enough post surgery to get back on the treadmill. Especially since I've been working full time and walk most of the day anyway. I might take it easy with the weight lifting that requires my abs, though.
I entered to win. I hope I do. Dolphins and mermaids? ;)
